Discover Walcha
The New England High Country town of Walcha straddles two of the most picturesque roads in the region; the Oxley Highway and Thunderbolts Way.
Located on the northern tablelands of NSW, Walcha boasts some of Australia’s most spectacular countryside. Undulations of highly productive pastured lands meet a labyrinth of gorges, where sheer cliffs and waterfalls delight the senses. To experience the gorge country is humbling, a powerful but gentle reminder of how small we are in comparison to our land.
The naturally artistic formation of the landscape is complimented by the artistic and culturally rich township of Walcha. Abundant with public art, the Open Air Gallery now boasts close to fifty sculptures, making Walcha the most art saturated town in Australia, with a piece of public art for every 60 of its citizens.
